West Gippsland Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Women in Song’ concert on 3BBR

Listen back to the recent West Gippsland Symphony Orchestra concert in the 3BBR-FM Concert Hall broadcast on Sunday 12 May 2024.

To coincide with Mother’s Day, the program featured ‘Women in Song’ with guest sopranos Iris Zavou and Janneke Ferwserda delighting the audience with a romantic selection of Arias and Songs from popular music theatre.

Pianist Lisa Blackman performed the Grande Tarantelle by Gotschalk.

Two Australian works in the program included ‘Mythic’ by Elena Kats-Chernin and ‘Honour Earth’ by Sarah Hopkins, all under the direction of conductor David Williams OAM.

This performance was recorded on 27 April 2024 at the West Gippsland Arts Centre, Warragul.
